Built with a full-grain leather upper, the retro silhouette is entirely dipped in black, save for Supreme’s signature red box logo on the lateral heel. The same detail is repeated on the custom sockliner, alongside a Nike Air logo hit. The kicks come with a second set of black laces printed with Supreme branding. Nike debuted the Air Force 1 in 1982, introducing cushioning to basketball sneakers for the first time. The style transitioned from on-court performance to off-court style as hip-hop artists pushed the silhouette to the forefront of culture through lyrics and videos. Virgil Abloh presents a relatively straightforward take on Bruce Kilgore’s design with this Off-White x Air Force 1 Low. That isn’t to suggest there aren’t unique details on the reconstructed build: in addition to a mix of ripstop and suede, the upper features taped seams and a white Swoosh attached via zigzag stitching. Exposed foam and misplaced tags appear on the tongue, while ‘LOGO’ inscribed on the heel tab delivers a final meta flourish.
